Charity Football Match to Bring Saints Legends to Overton

Football fans in Overton are being invited to a special charity match next month, featuring a team of local favourites taking on former professional players.

The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Colin Phillimore, will host the event on Friday 17 April 2026 at Overton Recreation Centre.

The match will see Overton United Veterans face off against the Saints Legends, a side made up of former players connected with Southampton F.C.. Kick-off is at 7pm at the recreation ground on Bridge Street in Overton.

Organisers say the evening promises exciting football, plenty of community spirit and the chance to see some well-known Saints names back on the pitch again, all while raising money for charity.

Families and supporters are encouraged to attend and enjoy what is expected to be a lively night of football in the village.

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £2 for children, with children required to attend with an adult. All proceeds from the match will go towards the Mayor’s Charity Appeal and the work of the Saints Foundation.

Anyone wishing to reserve tickets can do so by emailing colin.phillimore@btinternet.com.

The match will take place at Overton Recreation Centre, Bridge Street, Overton, RG25 3HD.
