From Monday 16th June until Friday 20th June, the B3400 will be closed daily between 07:00 and 16:00 at the railway bridge near the Beech Arms in Oakley. This closure is to allow essential repairs and maintenance work to be carried out by Network Rail contractors Dyer & Butler.
The works are expected to cause major disruption to local bus services, with diversions and delays across several key routes.
What’s Happening?
During the works, the B3400 will be completely closed at the railway bridge from 7am to 4pm each day. Outside of these hours, the road will reopen to allow normal traffic flow.
Affected Bus Services:
- Stagecoach Service 76 (Basingstoke – Andover):
Will divert via the A303 between Basingstoke and Overton, bypassing Worting and Oakley.
🚌 No service at Worting or Oakley between 07:05 and 15:20 from Basingstoke, and 06:35 to 15:10 from Andover. - Service 86 and School Service 676:
These will also divert along the A303 but the 86 will still serve the Oakley loop as normal.
⏱ Expect delays of up to 30 minutes on journeys from Overton to Winchester. - Basingstoke local services 4, 8, and 11:
These will continue to serve Worting and Oakley as usual, offering an alternative for local travel during the closure.
Plan Ahead
Commuters and passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time, especially during peak hours. Normal routes will resume before 7am and after 4pm each day, so early morning and evening buses should operate as usual.
A Note from the Operators
“We understand these disruptions are frustrating,” a spokesperson said. “We appreciate your patience while these essential works are completed. As soon as the road reopens, normal services will resume.”
