This year has been exceptionally busy and has passed at remarkable speed. One moment it was January, and the next it is Christmas.
On behalf of everyone at Overton Radio, I would like to wish you a very Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year. I mean that sincerely and warmly.
It has been a significant year for the station. We have welcomed new presenters who have made an immediate impact, delivering high-quality programmes and reinforcing the value of truly local radio. Staying rooted in Overton and reflecting the life of the village has always mattered to us, and this year the evidence has been clear. We have reached record listener numbers, record website visits and record engagement across our social platforms.
We have also been proud to play a part in many of the major events in and around the village. From the Wheelbarrow Race and the Rotten Hill Cup to the School Fete, Fireworks Night, the final CarFest at Laverstoke Park and the Overton Music Festival, Overton Radio has been present, involved and committed to community life.
I would like to offer a sincere thank you to our advertisers and sponsors. Your support is vital. It does not simply fund airtime or promotion; it sustains local radio, enables community coverage and allows us to give Overton a strong and consistent voice. As a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers, your backing makes a real and lasting difference, and we are deeply grateful.
Looking ahead, 2026 is already shaping up to be an important year for Overton Radio. We have ambitious plans, new ideas and a continued focus on delivering strong programming and meaningful community engagement.
I am fortunate to work with an outstanding team of volunteers. Their commitment, skill and generosity of time are the foundation of everything we do.
Finally, my thanks go to you, our listeners and supporters. Whether you tune in, visit the website, engage with us online or stop me in the street to share a comment, your support means more than you may realise.
As Christmas approaches, I would also encourage everyone to support local businesses where possible. Shop locally, use local services and support our pubs. They matter.
Thank you for being part of Overton Radio’s journey. I wish you a peaceful Christmas and a very Happy New Year, and I look forward to what lies ahead.
