A man has been charged after more than £600 worth of meat was allegedly stolen from the Co-op in Overton.
John Wagstaff, 44, of Sunnymead in Oakley, is facing five charges of theft from a shop and five charges of breaching a criminal behaviour order.
The charges relate to five separate incidents at the Co-op on Winchester Street, with police receiving reports of meat worth a total of £633 being stolen during July, August and September.
Hampshire Constabulary said Wagstaff is also accused of breaching a criminal behaviour order which was imposed in March this year.
A spokesperson for the force said: “John Wagstaff, 44, of Sunnymead, Oakley, has been charged with five counts of theft from a shop and five counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order.
“It comes after we received reports that meat worth a total of £633 had been stolen from Co-op on Winchester Street on five separate occasions in July, August and September.
“Wagstaff is also accused of breaching a criminal behaviour order which was imposed in March this year.”
He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today, Thursday, September 24.
As the case is ongoing, the charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
