Overton Youth FC is launching a new football boot recycling programme to help local families save money while giving unwanted boots a new lease of life.
The Overton Youth FC Boot Exchange is aimed at children who have quickly outgrown their football boots, as well as families who have spare pairs sitting at home.
The scheme is simple. Families can bring along outgrown football boots, provided they are in reasonable, playable condition. They can then browse the donated boots and take home a pair that fits their child, completely free of charge.
Importantly, you don’t need to donate a pair of boots to take a pair, and you don’t have to take a pair to make a donation. The aim is to keep more children in the community playing football while reducing waste and helping families with the cost of new equipment.
The Boot Exchange will take place on Saturday 12th, Saturday 19th and Saturday 26th September, from 9am until 12pm, at the Berrydown Sports Ground Pavilion.
Any spare football boots that remain will be donated to Football Rebooted, helping extend the scheme’s reach beyond the local community.
Overton Youth FC is encouraging families to have a look around at home for football boots that have been outgrown but still have plenty of playing life left in them.
