Overton’s famous Wheelbarrow Race is back, and organisers have officially opened entries for this year’s event.
The popular annual race will take place on Friday, 17th July 2026, bringing competitors together for one of the village’s most eagerly anticipated summer traditions.
Organisers are now inviting participants to sign up and secure their place on the starting line. Entry forms can be downloaded from the Overton Radio website and must be completed and returned before the closing date.
Competitors can download the entry form by clicking the button below:
Completed forms should be emailed to Gary Savory at garypsavory@outlook.com. PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM TO OVERTON RADIO.
A number of conditions apply to entrants. Participants must be 18 years of age or older, and the entry fee is £20 per person. Organisers have also reminded competitors that children and animals are not permitted to accompany entrants during the race.
The deadline for entries is Friday, 10th July, giving prospective racers just a few weeks to register.
The Overton Wheelbarrow Race has become a well-established fixture in the village calendar, attracting competitors and spectators alike. The event combines friendly competition with community spirit and is expected to draw large crowds once again this summer.
Anyone considering taking part is encouraged to submit their entry as soon as possible to avoid missing the deadline.
