Overton Dramatic Society is gearing up for an uproarious theatrical experience with their upcoming production of Bleak Expectations, a decidedly silly take on the iconic works of Charles Dickens. Written by Mark Evans and directed by none other than Overton Radio’s own Paul “Golly” Robinson, this clever and comedic adaptation promises to bring an evening full of laughter, lightheartedness, and plenty of twists on the classic Dickensian style.
Set in the fictional world of Victorian London, Bleak Expectations offers a wonderfully absurd spin on the dark and dramatic themes for which Dickens is renowned. The play follows the misadventures of Pip Bin, a young man navigating a world of misplaced expectations, eccentric characters, and wildly improbable scenarios. With its fast-paced humor, delightful absurdity, and lovable cast of characters, it’s sure to provide an unforgettable evening of entertainment.
The show will be performed at St. Mary’s Hall in Overton, Hampshire, from May 14th to May 17th, 2025. Under the expert direction of our very own Golly, the production promises to be a great addition to Overton’s thriving theatrical scene.
