The Greyhound available “to let”

Overton residents were met with surprise and concern today when a “For Let” sign was erected outside The Greyhound pub, casting doubt over the future of one of the village’s iconic establishments.

The Greyhound, located in the heart of Overton, was taken over in 2022 by Andrew Prince, who has since led the pub’s operations. Known for its warm atmosphere and strong community connection, the pub is popular among local residents.

In a statement posted on social media, Andrew has said “It is with a heavy heart that I have had to make this decision, however with a baby on the way, I will no longer have the time and effort that the Greyhound and all of you deserve!!”

He went on to stress that “the pub is, and will remain open until suitable replacements are found. You and we will be given a minimum of 1 month notice in the event somebody’s interest is spiked!”

The Greyhound is owned by Red Oak Taverns, a prominent pub operating company that also owns The Old House at Home on Station Road. Known for preserving pubs as community hubs, Red Oak Taverns has yet to release a statement on The Greyhound’s future.

For now, The Greyhound continues to operate as normal with Andrew and his team serving customers.
