Overton Radio has had an incredible 12 months, and it's been a true privilege to share all the exciting moments and stories from our village with you.
For the second consecutive night, Berrydown Sports Ground has been targeted by anti-social behaviour and criminal damage, with incidents serious enough to require intervention from the fire brigade. Youths were seen fleeing the scene on both occasions, leaving hundreds of pounds of damage in their wake.
The recent damage is particularly disheartening for Overton Youth Football Club, as it involves newly purchased equipment meant to enhance facilities for the community. This ongoing vandalism shows a troubling disregard not only for Berrydown but for other communal areas around the village as well, with numerous reports of anti-social behaviour.
Parents are being asked to be vigilant and, if their children return home smelling of smoke, to question their whereabouts. The actions taken by some youths for “entertainment” are causing significant disruption and expense for various organizations in the village.
The local on-call fire brigade, whose quick response has been invaluable, has also had their evenings disrupted by these incidents. The community is thankful for their commitment, but urges everyone to help put an end to these disruptive activities.
Residents are reminded to report ALL instances of anti-social behaviour in the village to the police on 101.
