Petition launched to save local bus route

A petition has been launched to save a valuable bus service, which is set to be axed by Stagecoach.

The 86 bus, which travels to Winchester via Whitchurch every hour, is to be axed as Stagecoach say that it is “commercially unviable”. The service is commonly used by students who attend Peter Symonds College.

The organisers of the petition say “We, the undersigned, call on Stagecoach and Hampshire County Council to work together with a view, in the long-term, to retaining the 86 bus service and, in the short-term, to immediately pause any changes planned, in order to permit a full public consultation to determine the needs of all potential users (as reflected in Hampshire County Council’s own LTP4).”
