It was a weekend full of highs and lows for Overton CC – with silverware to chase, lessons to learn, and plenty to play for.
Andover CC 2nd XI Storm to Victory
It was a confident showing from Andover CC 2nd XI, who cruised past Overton CC 1st XI with a 7-wicket win. Chasing 206 for 9 set by Overton in their 45 overs, Andover made light work of the target, smashing 210 for 3 in just 30.4 overs. A clinical batting performance and a steady innings secured them a strong result.
Overton CC 2nd XI Hit Back with a Win of Their Own
Overton CC weren’t down for long. Their 2nd XI replied in style with an 8-wicket win over Herriard CC 2nd XI. Chasing 223 for 8, Overton reached the target comfortably with 225 for 2 in 38.5 overs, showing composure and control throughout the innings.
Tough Day for Overton’s 3rd XI
The same couldn’t be said for the Overton CC 3rd XI, who suffered a heavy defeat against Cove CC 4th XI. Cove piled on 215 for 4 from their full 40 overs, before bowling Overton out for 108 in 36.2 overs. A 107-run defeat will leave Overton’s 3rd team looking for answers and regrouping ahead of their next fixture.
Softball Festival: Langley Take the Crown
In a lighter, more social setting, yesterday’s Softball Cricket Festival proved a hit – and it was Langley who came out on top, lifting the trophy after a fun and competitive day. Whitchurch put in a strong showing to finish runners-up in a festival that showcased the growing popularity of the shorter, friendlier format of the game.
