The winners of this year’s Scarecrow Festival have been revealed, bringing to a close another successful event that filled the village with creativity, colour and plenty of smiles.
Judges had the difficult task of choosing the best entries from a fantastic selection of scarecrows displayed throughout the village. Awards were presented across three categories: Creative, Humorous and Other.
In the Creative category, Lauren & Danielle claimed first place with The Flying Pig. Charlie & Claire took second place for Lady Greenfingers, while Sam Elkins finished in third place.
The Humorous category saw Overton Pre-School and Playgroup take first prize with Betty & Harry’s Wedding. Gill Mason was awarded second place for Knitting Nana, with Donna finishing third for Rapunzel.
In the Other category, Anna & Katie won first place with Jane Austen. Second place went to Joshua, Sister Squires and Dad for Dog Man, while Margaret Penny claimed third place with Dorothy.
The annual Scarecrow Festival once again attracted visitors from across the area, with families spending the weekend following the trail, supporting local businesses and enjoying a packed programme of entertainment.
Congratulations to all of this year’s winners, and to everyone who took part. The imagination, hard work and community spirit on display helped make this year’s Scarecrow Festival another memorable success.
