Overton United suffered a 4-2 defeat at home to Blackfield & Langley in the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division, despite going into half-time level at 2-2.
The two sides produced an entertaining first half at Bridge Street, with Overton twice finding the net as they looked to build on their recent start to life in the Senior Division. Blackfield & Langley also struck twice before the break, leaving the scores level at 2-2 going into half-time.
The visitors proved the stronger side after the interval, however, adding two further goals to take control of the match and secure all three points with a 4-2 victory.
Overton were unable to find a way back into the game during the second half, despite continuing to push for a response, and ultimately had to settle for defeat on an afternoon when six goals were scored.
Blackfield & Langley joined the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division this season after moving across from the Wessex League, while Overton United were promoted after finishing as runners-up in last season’s Division One.
The result gives Overton plenty to take from an entertaining first half, but they will now look to bounce back in their next Hampshire Premier League fixture.
