Overnight Road Closures Announced for Winklebury Way Junction Completion

Motorists are being advised to plan ahead as essential overnight road closures are set to hit Winklebury Way and Roman Road in Basingstoke starting late June.

The disruption comes as construction on the new four-way junction at Winklebury Way enters its final stages.

Key Details & Dates

To minimize daytime traffic congestion, project developers have scheduled the works exclusively during night hours.

  • Primary Dates: Monday, 29 June to Friday, 3 July 2026
  • Contingency Dates: Monday, 6 July to Friday, 10 July 2026 (if required due to delays)
  • Working Hours: 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM each night

What to Expect During the Works

The project team has outlined several measures and potential impacts for local residents during the construction window:

  • Road Closures & Diversions: The road will be completely closed to through-traffic during working hours, with a signed diversion route fully active.
  • Noise Disruptions: Neighbors can expect increased noise levels. In an effort to curb late-night disturbances, developers state that noisier activities will be prioritized to take place between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
  • Property Access: Access to local properties will be maintained wherever possible. However, residents living directly adjacent to the immediate work zones may experience short delays of up to 30 minutes when trying to access their homes.

“We understand this work will cause inconvenience and we are sorry for the disruption,” a spokesperson for the project stated. “We will make every effort to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.”
