A long-closed village building may soon be brought back to life by a group of local residents with plans to transform it into a vibrant community hub.
Plans to turn the former Hobbs Hairdressers on the High Street into a microbrewery have been approved by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
Ben and Becky Benton, who are behind the new business, applied for a change of use of the former hairdressers into a brewery, which will include an eating and drinking establishment and associated internal refurbishment works. They also plan to install and enlarge the replacement rear doors, and make alterations to the step at the rear of the property to provide wheelchair access, the replacement of front shop windows, painting of company brand name on facades, removal of existing outside toilet, the erection of asingle storey outbuilding to the rear for use as a microbrewery, and the erection of a new pergola and landscaping works.
The decision to approve the planning application was made at the borough council’s planning meeting on Wednesday evening.
