August Bank Holiday Sunday sees a mini festival taking place at The Red Lion in Overton.
With classic cars, local traders, food and drinks, a Chilli Challenge and seven acts lined-up for live music throughout the day, Overton Radio is proud to announce the first of the day’s performers.
Hugely popular singer and entertainer Jake Ward will take to the stage around 3pm at the charity event being billed as Carpark Fest.
The event will be raising money for Test Valley Men’s Shed and the village’s community radio station.
Jake came to the public’s attention after he won a singing competition at Portsmouth Guildhall aged just 13. Jake from Andover has played in most of north Hampshire’s music venues and is a regular at The Red Lion here in Overton.
“I am so pleased to be asked to perform at this great event. Test Valley Men’s Shed and Overton Radio are both fantastic community resources.
“It’s also a delight to be sharing the stage with a number of other great local Overton-based acts, which I am told to keep strictly under wraps until they are announced on Overton Radio in the coming weeks.”
Carpark Fest is a mini-parody of Chris Evans’ Carfest which was had been hosted at Laverstoke Park since 2012. This year the event has moved to Silverstone Circuit, a location that people agree is a much more suitable location.
Test Valley Men's Shed is a charitable project that encourages people to come together to make, repair and repurpose items while supporting projects in the area. Their efforts aim to improve wellbeing, reduce loneliness and combat social isolation.
The event which celebrates Overton Radio’s third birthday is free for visitors and traders. As well as the live music acts, the event features Come Dine With Me star Christopher Cloke hosting a Chilli Challenge and the pub’s regular bumper meat raffle and music quiz, ‘Meats & Beats’.
