I Like The Sound of That: Musicals

The landlady of The Red Lion in Overton makes her local radio debut this coming Wednesday (21st February 2024).

Victoria Harber will be hosting her first radio programme, introducing songs from the musicals and sharing her life experiences on why the songs she has chosen mean so much to her.

Victoria, who is celebrating two years as a village publican this week, is standing-in for Rob Francis and will present 40 songs from musicals such as Wicked, Chess and Blood Brothers.

On-air from 7pm on the village radio station Overton Radio, Victoria will share her stories of ‘driving her mother mad’ by singing songs from The Sound of Music. She will also be celebrating some of musicals which have been at the “forefront of great roles for women”.

Victoria says, “You may know that I am the landlady of The Red Lion and spend Sundays in the kitchen serving up Sunday lunches. Most weeks me and the team in the kitchen listen to musicals played on Alexa. It will be strange to ask Alexa to play my own show!”

Victoria will be playing her programme in The Red Lion on Wednesday evening from 7pm, which also features songs from Bugsy Malone, Les Misérables and Oliver!

You can listen to Overton Radio online at www.overtonradio.com, or by asking your Smart Speaker to “Play Overton Radio“.

Victoria will also play songs from Les Misérables, Matilda and Miss Saigon, playing the wedding song from her first dance to husband David, “The Last Night of the World”.

Victoria has previously hosted an hour-long national radio programme, interviewing Danny Bowes from British rock band Thunder (listen below).
