Families across Hampshire can add a little extra magic to the festive season this year, as Hampshire Hospitals Charity unveils its personalised Father Christmas letter service for 2025. The scheme returns with the aim of raising funds for young patients while giving children a moment of pure Christmas joy.
The charity’s team of elves has already settled into its annual routine, helping Father Christmas sort through wish lists and prepare for his busiest night of the year. As part of their work, they are making sure every child on the nice list has the chance to receive a reply from Father Christmas himself. The letters are written to feel personal, warm and tailored to each child, rather than read like a standard seasonal note.
Parents and carers can request a letter by submitting a short form with details about their child, such as their age, favourite activities or any achievements they are proud of. The elves use the information to shape a message that feels unique to the recipient. The charity has set Sunday 7 December as the final date for requests to ensure that all letters reach homes in time for Christmas.
Each letter costs £6, which covers a donation to Hampshire Hospitals Charity. The letters will be posted first class throughout December. The charity says the funds raised will help support children and young people across Hampshire Hospitals sites in Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover. The money will go towards projects that improve hospital stays, provide distraction and comfort, and help young patients feel less anxious during treatment.
The charity hopes the service will bring families a moment of calm and connection during a busy time of year, while also giving local children in hospital something brighter to look forward to. Staff say the scheme has become a popular part of their festive fundraising, with many families now requesting letters each year.
