A key stretch of the B3400 in Overton has been closed to traffic as emergency repair works get underway. The closure covers the section between Woodlands and Red Lion Lane.
Reports circulating online suggest the road is likely to remain shut until Tuesday while engineers carry out the necessary work. Local authorities are urging drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys.
The closure has also forced changes to public transport. The 76 bus, which normally runs through Overton, is now diverting via the A34 and A303 between Whitchurch and Overton, which means stops at Wells In The Field, Freefolk, Laverstoke, Southington and the centre of the village will not be served. If you need to catch a bus, you will need to go to the bus stop at Overton Hill. Passengers should expect longer journey times while the diversion is in place.
Further updates are expected as work progresses.
