Overton is about to get a serious dose of 90s nostalgia as South Hampshire’s premier Britpop and indie covers band, The Blurtones, take to the stage at the Overton Memorial Institute on Friday, August 1st.
Formed in 2018, The Blurtones have carved out a solid reputation across the region, bringing to life the unmistakable sound of 90s British music culture. With a setlist packed full of hits from Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Suede, Supergrass and more, the band captures the raw energy, swagger, and swaggering sarcasm that defined a generation.
Whether you were there the first time around or you’ve discovered the magic of Britpop through your parents’ CD collection, this is your chance to relive the era of parkas, pub singalongs, and Top of the Pops anthems — all in the heart of Overton.
Doors open at 9pm, with entry priced at £5 for members and £7 for guests. Expect guitars, nostalgia, and maybe the odd Liam Gallagher strut or two.
The Blurtones continue to champion the music that shaped a generation — and with their high-energy live shows and authentic sound, they’re not just covering the classics; they’re keeping the Britpop flame well and truly burning.
So dust off your Adidas Gazelles, practise your “Madchester” dance moves, and head to the Stute. This is definitely one gig you won’t want to miss.
