Drivers and residents in Overton are being advised of a one-day road closure on Battens Avenue next week as essential highway maintenance takes place.
The works are scheduled for Wednesday, 5 November 2025, and are expected to last just one day. During this time, Battens Avenue will be closed to all vehicles between Winchester Street and Waltham Road from 8am to 4pm. The road is due to reopen later that evening once the works are complete.
The closure is required to allow maintenance crews to carry out necessary repairs safely and efficiently. However, Hampshire Highways has warned that timescales may be affected by weather conditions, and any changes will be clearly shown on yellow information boards near the site.
Residents living nearby have been advised that some disturbance is likely throughout the day and are being asked not to park along Battens Avenue during the closure. Any vehicles left on the road that block the works may be removed to allow progress to continue.
While pedestrian access will remain available at all times, vehicular access to and from properties cannot be guaranteed during working hours for safety reasons.
Motorists are being urged to plan ahead, follow any diversion signs in place, and allow extra time for their journeys.
