Overton United Secure Dramatic Late Victory Over Upham

Overton United kept their promotion hopes alive with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Upham, sealed by a last-minute penalty from Adam Hargood in injury time.

The home side took an early lead after 20 minutes when Sam Freeman found the net. However, Upham responded well and equalised 15 minutes later, sending the teams into the break level at 1-1.

Upham carried their momentum into the second half and took the lead on the hour mark, putting Overton under pressure to respond. With time running out, Overton found their equaliser in the 82nd minute through Cole Oates, setting up a tense finale.

As the game edged towards full-time, Overton were awarded a penalty in stoppage time. Adam Hargood stepped up and kept his nerve to convert from the spot, sparking celebrations among the home fans.

The crucial victory moves Overton United into second place in the league, just two points behind leaders Broughton, with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Overton United Reserves played out a 1-1 draw away at North Warnborough. The result means Overton remain just one point behind their opponents in the league standings as they continue their push for a strong finish to the season.
