
Festival Dates and Times
The Overton Scarecrow Festival will take place over the weekend of Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July, starting from 12 noon each day.
Venue
Bridge Street Recreation Ground, Overton
The Festival Grand Fete and Family Fun Weekend will be held at the recreation ground and hosted by the Overton Radio team.
What to Expect
The festival offers a full programme of family-friendly activities, including:
- The popular It’s a Knockout competition
- A wide range of children’s attractions
- A varied selection of stalls
- Food and drink available throughout the weekend
The event is designed to be relaxed, welcoming, and suitable for all ages.
Celebrating 60 Years of the Overton Recreation Centre
This year’s festival forms part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Overton Recreation Centre. The centre is a village charity that manages over 30 acres of sports facilities, green space, and three sports pavilions.
With recent and future growth in the village, funds raised from the festival will help maintain and improve these facilities for the whole community.

Stalls are being coordinated by Alison Hood and Mel Brixton, who are working to ensure a strong and varied mix.
Scarecrow-Making Workshops
Weekly scarecrow-making workshops will run from Tuesday 10 February at the Sports Pavilion, Bridge Street Recreation Ground.

Materials Needed
The organisers are urgently looking for materials to help create the scarecrows. Items needed include:
- Unwanted clothes
- Cardboard
- Bubble wrap
- Old pillowcases
- Newspapers
- Flimsy plastic carrier bags
Materials can be brought to the workshops or collected by arrangement.
