Families from across Overton are being invited to enjoy a packed afternoon of entertainment, activities and community spirit as the Overton School Association Family Fun Day takes place tomorrow.
The popular annual event promises something for all ages, with sporting finals, live performances, family races and a wide range of attractions throughout the day.
The programme begins with the Netball Final at 12.15pm, followed by the Football Final at 12.45pm. Visitors can then enjoy a performance from Meraki Dance at 1.30pm before the eagerly anticipated Fun Races get underway at 2.15pm.
The event will be hosted by Rob Francis from Overton Radio, who will guide visitors through the afternoon’s activities and entertainment. Support at the event will also be provided by Basingstoke Rotary Club, whose volunteers will be helping throughout the day.
A host of activities and attractions will be available across the school grounds. Visitors can enjoy traditional burgers and sausages from the barbecue, supplied by local butcher Turners, while the bar will be serving a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to help keep everyone cool in the warm weather.
Those with a sweet tooth can visit the candyfloss stall, while the school hall will host the ever-popular tombola alongside a special teddy tombola run by nursery staff.
Children can make the most of three bouncy castles, with unlimited bounce passes available for £5, while SportsXtra will be running an obstacle course on the field. There will also be a penalty shootout challenge, bungee trampolines, Year 6 games stalls and a display of classic cars.
Craft stalls featuring handmade goods, many supporting charitable causes, will also be open throughout the event.
One of the highlights of the afternoon is expected to be the Fun Races, which begin at 2.15pm.
The races include the Spatula and Banana Race, a twist on the traditional egg-and-spoon challenge, where competitors must balance a banana on a spatula while navigating a course.
Teams will also compete in an Obstacle Relay, featuring tunnels, hurdles, cargo nets and a beanbag challenge before collecting a token and racing back to the start.
The Balloon Battle will test teamwork and coordination as participants attempt to keep a beach ball airborne while standing in a circle and holding hands.
The final event, the Water Relay, will see teams transport water using only sponges, racing to fill a bucket before their rivals.
Organisers are hoping for another strong turnout as families gather to celebrate the end of the school year, raise funds for the school and enjoy a day of community fun.
With sunshine forecast and a full programme of entertainment planned, organisers are encouraging residents to come along and join in the festivities.
