Local traders are invited to join Overton Radio’s third birthday party for free, raising money for the Test Valley Men’s Shed.
Over the August Bank Holiday weekend Overton Radio will be raising money for Test Valley Men’s Shed and is inviting local traders to take advantage of the free event.
The live music event in the car park and garden of The Red Lion pub will feature local music artists, an array of classic cars, local craft traders and a ‘Chilli Challenge’. Carpark-Fest is a fun replacement for Car-Fest, which has vacated its usual venue at Laverstoke Park.
Food, crafts and other local creators and traders are already committing to the event which is planned for the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Rob Francis from Overton Radio says, “This event is really taking off. Our aim was to host the event on Sunday 30th August, but we’ve had so much interest, we might extend the event over two days to include Saturday 29th August as well.
“As we look forward to live music from acts like Mya, John Bird and the Rag and Moan Men, we’re seeking more local traders to register their interest”.

The Test Valley Men’s Shed is a community hub charity that was designed to combat social isolation, particularly among older men. Members provide the bike repair service at the Repair Cafe and have recently taken delivery of two new heavy duty bike repair stands at their ‘Bikehub’, thanks to “a generous grant” provided by Overton Parish Council.
The event which celebrates the community radio station’s 3rd Birthday also features a ‘Chilli Challenge’, hosted by Channel 4’s ‘Come Dine With Me’ winner, and Overton Radio host Chris Cloke. It’s supported by Hornet Chilli in Basingstoke.
Red Lion Landlord and Overton Radio co-founder David Harber adds, “Our commitment to supporting the Overton community continues and we’re pleased to host this event; we might just bring back our really fun ‘Human Fruit Machine’ as part of the event.
“Any final local traders are welcome to get in contact to see if – together – we can promote your products, services and efforts.”
