VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebration

On the 8th. May 2025, the United Kingdom will celebrate, along with many other nations of the World, the end of the Second World War in Europe, VE Day. A national programme of events has been published, which includes the lighting of hundreds of beacons across the British Isles and beyond, and Overton will be no exception with the lighting of our beacon. The event takes place at Sapley Lane Playing Field, with the lighting scheduled for 21.30 followed by a rendition of “I Vow To Thee My Country” (Cecil Spring Rice/Gustav Holst).

We look forward to you joining us for the celebration of this momentous occasion, and in remembrance of all of those who fell, those who survived, and not forgetting those who fought on until VJ Day, August 14th., which globally ended the conflict.
