Carpark Fest on Bank Holiday Sunday sees The Red Lion, Overton Radio and Madrí Excepcional team-up to give customers the chance to win a trip to Madrid.

Carpark Fest visitors could win a trip to Madrid

At the day-long event which features eight live music acts including Jake Ward, Take Three and Funkline, customers who buy a pint of Madrí will be given the chance to win either a free pint or ‘Spin the Wheel’ for a further chance to win a trip to Madrid.

The free event is in support of Overton Radio and Test Valley Men’s Shed, and will feature fundraising activities throughout the day including the Human Fruit Machine and The Red Lion’s weekly meat raffle and music quiz, ‘Meats & Beats’, with £200 of produce from Oakley Butchers.

Madrí and Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone Premium Lager are consistently the best-selling drinks at the pub, with Madrí being the second-largest ‘world lager’ brand by value across the UK.

“We are always finding new, innovative ways to reward customers for supporting their local pub”, says Landlord David Harber.

“Next Sunday is really just a mini-parody of the big Car-Fest event that used to be at Laverstoke Park, and we hope people will come and enjoy our local musical acts and support our many local traders who are attending.”

Musical acts over the day include Lani Clayton, John Bird, Jake Ward, Mya, Take Three, Angie and Funkline. Traders include local jewellery, clothing and 3D models. There will also be a display of classic cars from the Overton Classic Car Club.

The event will also feature a ‘Chilli Challenge’ with fresh chillies, hosted by Basingstoke’s ‘Come Dine With Me’ winner, Christopher Cloke.  Chillies and Chilli Sauces with a Scoville Scale up to 2.5million will be available on ‘Chilli Dogs’ which will be available throughout the afternoon from local food trader and German Sausage experts ‘Jeffrey’s Lunchbox’.

The event at The Red Lion follows the pub’s second ‘Live at the Lion’ comedy night on Saturday 29th August featuring Lyle Barke, Toussant Douglass, Tom Elwes and ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ contributor Bobby Mair.

Carpark Fest is from midday until around 9.30pm on Sunday 30th August.  The event is free to attend.

Full details of the Madrí promotion are available at The Red Lion, Overton.
